About This Treatment
What are the benefits of a dental crown?
When are dental crowns used?
- A tooth that has more filling than tooth in it. Eventually, the structure of the remaining tooth will not be able to support the filling anymore
- Fractures in teeth
- Discolouration, staining and poor aesthetic appearance
- When a bridge is used to substitute for absent teeth, the neighbouring teeth need crowns in order to create a 'bridge' and support the substitute teeth
Your dental crown & bridge treatment
A typical crown is fitted over two appointments.
The type of crown used will depend on a number of factors including strength, position and visual concerns. We work with expert ceramicists in Sydney to design a crown to suit your personal tooth style and budget.
You will be given a local anaesthetic to ensure that the procedure is pain-free. The existing tooth is then prepared in a precise manner to connect with the new crown.
An impression and mould of the crown is created so the ceramist knows the exact size shape and colour to create the new crown.
A temporary crown will then be placed on the tooth. The temporary crown is made of a plastic material and is used to simply guard the tooth and gum tissue until the second appointment.
The temporary crown will be taken out and the cement used to secure it will be removed from the tooth. We will adjust and fit the final crown to perfection and assess the visual look of the crown.
Once we are pleased with the shape and aesthetics of the crown, we will secure it to the tooth using a permanent cementation technique.
What is the recovery period after a crown?
How much do dental crowns cost?
Dental crowns can vary in cost depending on which tooth needs a crown, how many teeth need a crown and if they are supporting a bridge. We invite you for a consultation with our highly qualified dentists who have extensive experience in dental crowns. We are experts at what we do with affordability at front of mind.
